About Gütersloh Läuft

Gütersloh Läuft will take place in its 18th edition on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, in Gütersloh City Park. The charity run combines sporting competitions for all age groups with a good cause: 1 Euro will be donated to the German Stroke Aid Foundation for each registration. 18 Years of Charity Run in Gütersloh

The run Gütersloh Läuft is Gütersloh's largest sporting event and one of the established charity runs in Ostwestfalen. Since its premiere in 2009, the event has combined sporting ambition with social commitment: 1 Euro per registration is donated directly to the Stiftung Deutsche Schlaganfall-Hilfe (German Stroke Aid Foundation). Over 18 editions, more than 50,000 Euros have flowed to the foundation.

The 18th edition will take place on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, in Gütersloh City Park. The start/finish area is the Heidewald Stadium. Program structure:

Competition Program July 8, 2026

  • 3:30 PM – Bambini Run: 600 m for the little ones (3–5 years old)
  • 4:00 PM – School Run: 1,200 m for grades 1–8, separated by gender and age groups
  • 5:00 PM – BeFit Nordic Walking: 5 km walk/hike for recreational athletes
  • 6:00 PM – BeFit Corporate and Individual Run: 5 km competitive run for teams or individual runners
  • 7:00 PM – Sparkassen Summer Evening Run: 10 km – the main event for ambitious runners

Children's Runs Free – Thanks to Main Sponsor Hagedorn

In 2026, the children's runs are completely free, financed by the main sponsor Hagedorn Group. This sponsorship initiative relieves families and makes the run a hurdle-free family event. Registration fees apply for adults (approx. €15–€25 depending on distance and registration time).

Route Description

The runs take place in Gütersloh City Park – one of the largest city parks in Ostwestfalen. The routes run over asphalted park paths and paved trails through the park. Characteristics:

  • Flat course (no significant elevation gain)
  • Alternating asphalt and paved paths
  • Shaded sections under trees
  • Multiple laps for longer distances
  • Spectator-friendly – family and friends line the course

Preparation Training

Anyone who wants to participate on July 8 can get in shape at the public preparation training sessions. Starting June 1, 2026, the running community meets every Monday at 6:30 PM in the City Park for joint warm-up and running training. The training is led by professional coaches from a local sports store. All paces are welcome.

Atmosphere and Accompanying Program

With around 3,000 expected visitors (participants plus spectators), Gütersloh Läuft is the biggest sports festival of the Gütersloh summer. The accompanying program includes:

  • Food stalls with pasta, burgers, vegetarian options
  • Drink stations (non-alcoholic before the runs)
  • Live music after the main runs
  • Award ceremonies and raffle
  • Information stand of the German Stroke Aid Foundation

Gütersloh – The City of Furniture and Media

Gütersloh, with around 100,000 inhabitants, is the largest city in the Gütersloh district in Ostwestfalen-Lippe. Known primarily as the headquarters of Bertelsmann SE (media conglomerate), but also for Miele, Dr. Oetker, and numerous furniture manufacturers. The City Park is the green heart of the city – with water features, playgrounds, an open-air theater, and several restaurants.

Getting There

By train: Gütersloh Hauptbahnhof (main station), from there a 15-minute walk to the City Park, or take city bus 1 or 2 (Heidewald stop). By car: A2 motorway exit Gütersloh, parking available around the City Park.

Tip

If you want to run: try out the Monday training sessions (from June 1st) weeks in advance for a relaxed start into a great running community. Spectators are best advised to arrive around 7 PM for the 10 km main race – the atmosphere is most intense here.
