Open-air entertainment show at the Rosseltalhalle
Großrosseln is located on the German-French border in the westernmost tip of the Saarbrücken Regional Association – Germany on one side of the street, France on the other. The Rosseltalhalle is the cultural center of the community of nearly 8,000 inhabitants and one of the preferred performance venues for the Gunni Mahling Showensemble.
The Gunni Mahling Showensemble is a fixture in the Saarland for entertainment music with a show character. Singers, dancers, soloists, the Gunni Mahling Orchestra, and regular guest appearances – such as from the Saarland magician Maxime Maurice – create a mix that oscillates between musical revue, popular show, and concert. Its own genre, somewhere between a classic stage show and popular entertainment in the best sense.
While the Christmas Magic Concerts in the Rosseltalhalle have become a cult event, the Summer Open Air is a comparatively young format. The forecourt in front of the hall becomes an open-air stage, with outdoor seating and the hall serving as a technical base in the background. On balmy summer evenings, this creates a special atmosphere, the charm of which is mainly due to the contrast with the classic indoor concerts.
As with the Christmas concerts, the children's choir is regularly featured at the Summer Open Air, both as soloists and in interplay with the main ensemble. The show is family-friendly, usually lasts around two hours including an intermission, and is aimed at a broad audience from children to seniors.
The 2026 Summer Open Air is the Saarland's summer counterpart to the ensemble's popular Christmas Magic Concerts in the region. The show begins at 8:30 PM, with admission usually one hour prior. The final setlist is traditionally not published in advance by the ensemble – expect songs from pop, musical, and classic entertainment music.
