DixieCity Gerolstein – Jazz Festival

The DixieCity Gerolstein Jazz Festival is one of the most important festivals for traditional jazz in the region between the Eifel, Moselle, and Ardennes. For three days, Brunnenplatz in the center of Gerolstein transforms into an open-air stage where national and international bands celebrate the sound of early jazz days.

20 Hours of Traditional Jazz

The program spans around 20 hours of high-quality live jazz over three days. Stylistically, the festival focuses on:

• Oldtime Jazz: The roots of jazz from the early New Orleans era, with classics from the 1910s and 1920s.
• New Orleans Jazz: The characteristic style with trumpet, clarinet, trombone, and rhythm section.
• Dixieland: The white adaptation of the New Orleans style, with its own accents.
• Traditional Swing: Early swing classics that emerged directly from Dixieland.

Brunnenplatz as the Central Stage

Opening Friday 5:00 PM – Afterwork Party

The festival kicks off on Friday at 5:00 PM with the Afterwork Party. This makes the weekend opening attractive for working people: straight to the festival after work. This programming has established itself over the years as a popular entry point.
