Traditional September Kerwe in the Iggelheim district of Böhl-Iggelheim municipality
In the Palatinate festival calendar, September traditionally marks the main Kerwe season. Numerous villages between the Weinstraße and the Rhine celebrate their Kerwen during these weeks, usually involving a festival parade, a festival tent, and a Frühschoppen (morning pint). The Iggelheimer Kerwe is one of these September Kerwen and has long been firmly established in the region's event calendar.
During the Kerwe, the center of Iggelheim transforms into a continuous festival mile. Stalls, amusement rides, and the central festival tent occupy the main thoroughfares. The showmen set up their attractions for the duration of the festival, ranging from children's carousels and shooting galleries to candy stalls.
The local clubs handle the culinary catering: the sports club, fire department, music club, and other groups are represented with stalls. On the tables, you'll find bratwurst, Saumagen (a regional specialty), Flammkuchen, Palatinate wine, and beer. The proceeds support the volunteer work of the clubs in the community.
Beyond the culinary and entertainment offerings, the Iggelheimer Kerwe is an occasion for the village community to come together. Former residents of Iggelheim return for the festival, club members meet each other, and neighborly relations are maintained. This social element shapes the festival's atmosphere just as much as the program.
The Iggelheimer Kerwe 2026 joins the ranks of the Palatinate September Kerwen. The festival operations follow the established structure with an opening evening, the main festival day on Sunday, and Kerwemontag (Kerwe Monday). The exact program will be published by the Iggelheim local community in late summer.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the Iggelheim local community in late summer. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years.
