Classic Rock in Western Saarland

The Erz-Rock-Festival in Großrosseln is a concentrated, one-evening classic for rock fans: one hall, two bands, lots of amplification. Organized by the Erzrock team in cooperation with the municipality of Großrosseln and Knecht Events, the date in the Rosseltalhalle has established itself as a fixture in the Saarland rock scene. Klassik-Rock-Radio is the media partner, and local sponsors keep the festival alive — typical of the close connection between club life and cultural events in the Saarland.

2026: PURPLE meets THE DoXX

The 2026 edition is dedicated to two styles. The headliner is PURPLE, a tribute band from Marburg dedicated to the music of Deep Purple — five charismatic musicians who recently even performed as support for the rock veterans Status Quo with an authentic stage show. Supporting act is THE DoXX from Völklingen — a cover band with a broad repertoire ranging from international rock classics to German-language rock hits.

The Venue: Rosseltalhalle Großrosseln

The Rosseltalhalle is the central multi-purpose hall of the municipality of Großrosseln. Its manageable size creates an intimate concert atmosphere here — no anonymous giant arenas, but direct eye contact between stage and audience. This is part of the success formula: Anyone standing in the front row at the Erz-Rock-Festival practically has the guitarist's solo in their nose.

Großrosseln in the Saarbrücken Regional Association

Großrosseln is located on the western edge of the Saarland, in the Saarbrücken Regional Association, directly on the French border (Petite-Rosselle). The municipality was once part of the Saarland's hard coal mining industry — the name "Erzrock" is a deliberate allusion to this tradition: hard sound, hard work, hard men (and women). Today, the old mining region is a vibrant part of the Saarland with its own culture and an active club landscape.

A Festival Rooted in Tradition

The Erz-Rock-Festival has been held annually in the spring for years and has found a firm place in the Saarland's classic rock scene. Fans from all over the Saarland, Lorraine, and Rhineland-Palatinate travel to Großrosseln for this evening — some already wearing T-shirts from the original Deep Purple tour in 1973.
