West Saxony's Big City Festival

The Marktfest Crimmitschau is considered one of the largest Volksfeste (public festivals) in the West Saxon region outside the major cities of Zwickau and Chemnitz. For three days, the historic market square transforms into a large festival mile that completely fills the city center – with several stages, theater performances, live music, and an open-air program.

Tradition from the Textile Town

Crimmitschau is a town with a rich textile tradition – the textile industry shaped the town from the 18th century to the 20th century and was one of the driving forces behind Saxon industrialization. Today, this history lives on in the Saxon Industrial Museum (Gebrüder Pfau Textile Factory); the Marktfest on the historic market square annually brings the town to a civic highlight.

Several Stages, Broad Program

Live music from various genres, amusement rides for families, food and drink with regional specialties, and market stalls offer a wide mix. Theater performances and open-air programs complement the musical offerings.

Crimmitschau is located in the Zwickau district (AGS 14524), state of Saxony, on the Pleiße river in the West Saxon region. With around 18,000 inhabitants, the town is one of the medium-sized district towns in the region – the Marktfest underscores its function as a focal point for the surrounding villages.
