Volksfest in the Altmühltal
The Greding Volksfest is the annual Kirchweih (church consecration festival) of the town of Greding, picturesquely located in the Altmühltal Nature Park. For four days, the festival grounds at the Altstadt-Parkplatz are transformed into a meeting point for young and old – with a festival tent, amusement park, and a packed entertainment programme against the backdrop of the medieval town.
Music, Beer, and Brotzeit
In the festival tent, brass band music and the hot rhythms of show bands alternate. Accompanied by tasty Brotzeiten (hearty snacks) and delicious beer – convivial togetherness is the focus. Cosy Frühschoppen (morning pint gatherings) and afternoons with the Greding Town Band create a traditional atmosphere, while the Bruckner fairground company's amusement park offers rides for all age groups.
Tradition on Monday
Monday, the last day of the festival, is traditionally dedicated to two special programme items: children parade through the old town with a cheerfully decorated bicycle parade, and there is a special afternoon programme for senior citizens. Thus, the Greding Volksfest combines custom, conviviality, and generations.
Volksfest Greding — edition 2026
From July 24th to 27th, 2026, Greding celebrates its Volksfest and Kirchweih at the Altstadt-Parkplatz. On the eve, Thursday, July 23rd, at 8 PM, a performance by Wolfgang Krebs & Die Bayerischen Löwen will kick things off.
During the festival days, brass band music and show bands alternate in the festival tent, accompanied by Brotzeiten, delicious beer, and the Bruckner fairground company's amusement park. Monday concludes with a children's bicycle parade through the old town and a senior citizens' afternoon.

Getting There
Greding is located in the Roth district in the Altmühltal Nature Park, easily accessible via the A9 motorway (Greding exit). The festival grounds are at the Altstadt-Parkplatz near the indoor swimming pool. Tourist Info Greding: 08463 90420.
