Advent Among Granite Rocks
Hauzenberg, in the district of Passau, has always been shaped by granite quarrying. The Granitzentrum Bayerischer Wald (Bavarian Forest Granite Centre) brings this history to life – and during Advent, the former quarry, the "Stoabruch", transforms into a Christmas market like no other. The stalls are set up between mighty rock formations, where the hard material of granite meets the warmth of the Advent season.
Light on Water and Rock
Elaborate light installations stage the unique stone and rock landscape. Illuminated water and spotlighted rock faces create an impressive backdrop, making the Granitweihnacht a visual experience.
Craftsmanship of the Dreiflüsseregion
At the stalls, craftspeople from the Dreiflüsseregion (Three Rivers Region) present their creations. Glassblowers, woodcarvers, and besom makers demonstrate their skills, while children can get creative at craft stations and design their own glass ornaments.
Atmospheric Programme
The programme ranges from barrel organ players and classical quartets to brass bands. Visits from St. Nicholas on selected weekends, storytelling theatre, and encounters with local figures round off the offerings. The heated Stoahauer-Kantine provides warmth.
Granite Christmas — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of the Granitweihnacht extends over the four Advent weekends from 26 November to 20 December 2026, open each Thursday to Sunday from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
The venue is once again the former granite quarry at the Granitzentrum Bayerischer Wald (Bavarian Forest Granite Centre). Light installations on water and rock, crafts from the Dreiflüsseregion (Three Rivers Region), and a varied programme characterise the market.

Getting There and Parking
Hauzenberg is located in the district of Passau in the Bavarian Forest. Parking is available at Brückenstraße, with a free shuttle service to the Granitzentrum from there. The entrance fee includes parking and the shuttle.

On the four Advent weekends, Thursday to Sunday, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
Admission
Admission €5.00 (Children under 14 free; Day pass €10). Parking and shuttle are included in the price.
