Grand Summer Festival on the Marketplace of Grafing near Munich
Grafing bei München is a town in the Upper Bavarian district of Ebersberg, east of the state capital Munich. The Grafinger Bürgerfest is the most important town festival of the year, alongside the Grandauer Volksfest (Pentecost), and is supported by the City of Grafing, with contributions from local associations and the Grafing Cultural Association.
The venue for the festival is the historic Marketplace in the center of the old town. Throughout the day, the square transforms into a large, summery festival mile with numerous food stalls run by local associations and restaurateurs, music stages, and a family-friendly program. A characteristic feature is the strong involvement of Grafing's club life, which operates stalls and helps shape the program.
The Bürgerfest traditionally takes place on the last Saturday in July — in 2026, on July 25th. On the evening before (July 24, 2026), the Grafing Cultural Association, in cooperation with the city, invites you to an open-air concert on the Marketplace: Under the motto "Gospel goes Grafing," the Heaven Singers will perform, setting the mood for the festival weekend.
Live bands and music groups provide entertainment on the Marketplace throughout the festival day, while the stalls offer Bavarian and international food and drinks. The Bürgerfest is designed as a sociable, intergenerational town festival — from families with children in the afternoon to the evening atmosphere with live music.
With the Bürgerfest, the preceding evening's gospel concert, and the Grandauer Volksfest, Grafing forms a fixed part of the festival calendar in the Ebersberg district and the eastern Munich metropolitan area. Visitors come from Grafing, the district, and the greater Munich area.
The 2026 edition follows the established date on the last Saturday in July. The prelude is the open-air concert on the eve, Friday, July 24: Under the motto "Gospel goes Grafing," the Heaven Singers will perform on the Marketplace — a cooperation between the Grafing Cultural Association and the city.
