Customs and Club Life in Franconian Untermain
The Gauschützentag is the annual main event of the Schützengau Main-Spessart, an association of shooting clubs in Bavarian Untermain. The Gau belongs to the Bavarian Sports Shooters' Association (BSSB) and the German Shooters' Association (DSB) and unites the regional shooting clubs of the Aschaffenburg district and surrounding areas.

In 2026, Schützenlust Stockstadt will host the 73rd Gauschützentag – fittingly for its 100th club anniversary. Stockstadt am Main is located in the district of Aschaffenburg, directly on the Main river, southwest of the city of Aschaffenburg.
What a Gauschützentag Means
Unlike a classic Volksfest (people's festival), the Gauschützentag is a closed club gathering with a ceremonial character. It follows a strictly traditional structure:
- Commemoration of the Fallen (Totenehrung) — Remembrance of deceased marksmen
- Church Service in the local church (in Stockstadt, the Rosenkranzkirche)
- Parade with flag delegations to the hall
- Delegate Assembly with honors, annual reports, elections, motions
Who Attends
All shooting clubs and societies of the Schützengau are invited with their flag delegations, royal courts, and members. The host, Schützenlust Stockstadt, will provide catering. The contact person is the 1st Gauschützenmeister Volker Strähle.
Gauschützentag Main-Spessart — edition 2026
The 73rd edition of the Gauschützentag Main-Spessart in 2026 is marked by a special occasion: the host, Schützenlust Stockstadt, is celebrating its 100th birthday. Clubs from the entire Schützengau Main-Spessart will gather in the TG-Halle Stockstadt.
The schedule follows the traditional format: joint commemoration of the fallen, religious ceremony in the Rosenkranzkirche (Dessauer Str. 11b), parade to the hall, delegate assembly with honors, reports, and elections. The contact person is the 1st Gauschützenmeister Volker Strähle.

Stockstadt am Main is located on the Bavarian Untermain in the district of Aschaffenburg. Travel via the A3 (Stockstadt exit) or by regional train to Stockstadt (Aschaffenburg–Darmstadt line). The TG-Halle is located at Schulstraße 16.
