About Festwoche Garmisch

The Garmischer Festwoche is the traditional folk festival of the Garmisch district in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. In the large festival tent in Wittelsbacher Park on Alleestraße, the market celebrates living Upper Bavarian tradition: Bavarian brass music, Schuhplattler (a traditional folk dance), costume parades in Werdenfels traditional dress, and regional delicacies. The festival is organized by the Veteran and Costume Association Garmisch. In 2026, the Garmisch Festival Week runs from July 25 to August 2; the separate Partenkirchen Festival Week follows from August 8 to 17.

Werdenfels Customs in the Festival Tent

The Garmischer Festwoche is the major folk festival of the Garmisch district in the market town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen at the foot of the Zugspitze. The venue is the festival tent in Wittelsbacher Park on Alleestraße, close to the town center and easily accessible. Traditionally, a separate festival week is also celebrated in the Partenkirchen district, staggered in time.
