Schwedt/Oder as a Running Community
Schwedt/Oder, with around 28,000 inhabitants, is the largest city in the Uckermark region – located on the west bank of the Oder, directly on the Polish border, and nestled within the Lower Oder Valley National Park. The Schwedt City Run is a relatively young tradition that sharpens the city's running profile and fits well into the already vibrant sports culture of the city (HC Schwedt in handball, OK Sport in volleyball).
From the Dreiklang Sports Complex into the City
The starting point for all routes is the Dreiklang Sports Complex, the city's largest sports center. From here, the individual routes lead through the city center of Schwedt and end back at the sports complex. The distances are staggered so that amateur runners of all ages can find a suitable route – from the Bambini run over 800 meters to the 10 km main race.
Program 2026
The 2026 edition is structured according to the established schedule: Company relay at 9:30 AM, Bambini run (800 m) at 10:15 AM, main race (10 km) at 10:30 AM, 6 km at 10:35 AM, and 2 km at 10:40 AM. This organizes the entire running day within a manageable timeframe – good for spectators, good for families who want to support multiple members.
Running Tradition in Northern Brandenburg
With the Schwedt City Run, the Oder Tower Run in Frankfurt (Oder), and smaller fun runs like the Eberswalde City Run or the Templin Citizen Run, a dense network of running events, supported by volunteers, is emerging in northern Brandenburg. Those who want to discover Brandenburg through sports will find a rich calendar of events here.
