Traditional town festival with classic car exhibition and flea market at the Danube breakthrough
On the second September weekend, expected from September 11th to 13th, 2026, Fridingen an der Donau celebrates its traditional town festival. Three days of program in the historic old town with catering by local clubs, live music, a classic car exhibition, and a flea market — one of the liveliest small-town festivals on the upper Danube.
The Friday evening opens the festival with the traditional tapping of the keg and initial musical performances. The Fridingen clubs — music association, sports club, volunteer fire brigade, church communities — open their catering stands in the old town.
Saturday features one of the town festival's main attractions: the large classic car and tractor exhibition. Beloved vehicles from several decades of automotive history and historical agricultural equipment are presented in the old town — a magnet for car and technology enthusiasts from the entire Danube valley and the Swabian Jura.
Sunday is market day: A large flea and antique market spreads throughout the historic old town of Fridingen. Collectors, hobby dealers, and treasure hunters come from all over the region — the market is one of the most beautiful antique markets on the upper Danube.
As with many small-town festivals in Baden-Württemberg, the Fridingen clubs take over the catering in their own festival tents and stands. From the music association to the sports club and the volunteer fire brigade — each club brings its own specialties. This club-supported organization makes the festival authentic and clearly distinguishes it from commercially organized large events.
With around 3,300 inhabitants, Fridingen an der Donau is located in the southwestern Tuttlingen district — at the gateway to the spectacular Danube Breakthrough. The upper Danube forces its way here through narrow karst rocks of the Swabian Jura — one of Germany's most impressive river landscapes, protected in the Upper Danube Nature Park. The historic old town of Fridingen with its town wall, medieval gates, and Gothic Church of Our Lady forms the backdrop for the town festival.
Stallholders wishing to participate in the flea market must register by April 15th, 2026, with Ms. Kühn from the Fridingen municipal administration.
In 2025, the town festival took place from September 12th to 14th. The concept with a classic car exhibition on Saturday and a flea market on Sunday has become established and will continue in the same format in 2026.
The Fridingen Town Festival 2026 is planned for the second September weekend (expected September 11–13, following 2025 = Sept 12–14). The festival follows its proven three-day concept: Friday kick-off, Saturday classic car highlight, Sunday flea market.
The Fridingen clubs will provide catering, and the municipal administration coordinates stall registrations (registration deadline April 15th with Ms. Kühn). The exact program will be published on fridingen.de.
Free admission. Food, drinks, and flea market goods at usual festival prices.
By car: A81 exit Tuttlingen, then B14/L444 to Fridingen an der Donau. By train: Fridingen station (Donautalbahn Tuttlingen–Sigmaringen), approx. 5 min walk from the station to the old town.
Free admission to all program points, stands, and markets.
Combine your festival visit with a hike in the Danube Breakthrough — the Donauberglandweg trail leads directly through the spectacular karst landscape. A boat trip on the Danube is also possible.
