City festival with open-air rock night in Freising's Old Town
The Freisinger Altstadtfest is the social summer highlight of the Upper Bavarian cathedral city of Freising. For a weekend, the historic old town around Marienplatz and the Ober- und Untere Hauptstraße transforms into the city's "largest beer garden," a shopping promenade, and a party zone all at once.
The Rock Night, an open-air concert evening on Marienplatz, marks the beginning. With live bands under the open sky, the festival weekend starts atmospherically into the night and draws a large, celebratory crowd into the city center.
On the festival day itself, music stages fill the old town, numerous gastronomic stands offer food and drinks, and a children's program ensures that even the youngest visitors get their money's worth. The festival is organized by the City of Freising together with the municipal sports association. Last drink service is at 11:30 PM, glasses are accepted back until 12:30 AM.
