Whitsun Festival in the Kurpark Dahn (Palatinate Forest)

The Whitsun Festival in the Dahn Kurpark is one of the town of Dahn's largest and best-known events. It takes place over the entire Whitsun weekend – four days from Whitsun Friday to Whitsun Monday – and uses the central Dahn Kurpark as its festival grounds.

The Kurpark as a Festival Venue

Dahn is a state-recognized health resort and accordingly has a generously designed spa park. The grounds are located in the middle of the town, lined with old trees and offering views of the striking sandstone formations of the Palatinate Forest. Festival tents are erected for the Whitsun Festival, a stage is set up, and catering stands are placed; however, the park remains a green recreational area with opportunities for walks and breaks away from the hustle and bustle.

Four Days of Festivities

The four days of the festival each have their own character:

• Whitsun Friday: Opening in the evening with a keg tapping ceremony, first live concerts, start of catering.
• Whitsun Saturday: Main day with full operation, several live acts, children's program, and dance evening.
• Whitsun Sunday: Morning pint, family program, highlights in the afternoon and evening.
• Whitsun Monday: Family day with a calmer atmosphere, morning pint, winding down the festival.

Family, Clubs, Gastronomy

The Whitsun Festival is organized by the town of Dahn together with local clubs. Sports clubs, the fire department, music clubs, and gastronomic businesses are responsible for catering with classic Palatinate dishes: Saumagen (pig's stomach stuffed with pork and potatoes), Leberknödel (liver dumplings), Pfälzer Bratwurst (Palatinate sausage), Flammkuchen (a type of flatbread pizza), accompanied by regional drinks and Palatinate wine. Children will find their own program with bouncy castles, carousels, and entertainment.

Dahner Felsenland

Dahn is the center of the Dahner Felsenland, a scenically impressive region with striking red sandstone formations, extensive mixed forests, and well-developed hiking trails. The Whitsun Festival marks the start of the tourist high season; for many guests, it is the first point of contact in the calendar of events for the Dahn Felsenland administrative district.
