Techno in the Middle of the Forest
The Freiraum Open Air is one of Schleswig-Holstein's most extraordinary techno events. The venue is the Waldbühne Trappenkamp — an open-air stage built in the 1950s in the Aukrug Nature Park, nestled among pine and beech trees. The promoter and organizer is the crew around Innovate Records from Trappenkamp, who have been connecting regional and supra-regional DJs and live acts for years.
360-Degree Stage and Massive Sound System
At the heart of the festival is a 360-degree stage with an all-around sound system — DJs and live acts perform in the middle of the crowd, not in front of it. This unusual stage architecture is the festival's trademark and creates an open-air club atmosphere. In addition to the dance floor, there is a food truck, a chill-out area, table football, and a beer pong area.

Freiraum Open Air is one of the few larger techno festivals in rural Schleswig-Holstein. With tickets starting at €8 in advance and a long night from 8:00 PM to 3:00 AM, the festival consciously targets young audiences from the Segeberg, Kiel, and Lübeck districts — without needing to align with the established techno capitals (Berlin, Hamburg). The connection to Innovate Records and Hamburg clubs (La Cova St. Pauli) ensures supra-regional visibility.

The 2026 edition sticks to the proven concept: a long festival Saturday from 8:00 PM to 3:00 AM at the Waldbühne Trappenkamp, with a 360-degree stage, a curated lineup, and relaxed regulations.
Five acts from the Schleswig-Holstein and Hamburg techno scene are on the lineup — from established resident DJs of La Cova St. Pauli to the Inner Circle collective from Lübeck and the Hamburg-based Innovate Records live set.

Getting There
By Car: Take the A21 motorway, exit Bornhöved / Trappenkamp, then follow signs to Waldbühne. Parking available on the festival grounds. By Train: Travel to Bad Segeberg, then take a bus (line SE-NMS) or taxi to Trappenkamp.
