39 Years of Münsterland Autumn Tradition

With its 39th edition in 2026, the Freckenhorster Herbst is one of the most important autumn festivals in the Münsterland region. From Friday, October 9, to Sunday, October 11, 2026, the festival transforms the Freckenhorst town center into a continuous festival mile, at the heart of which is an exceptionally large flea market — stretching over two kilometers with more than 700 stalls.

The 700-Stall Flea Market — The Centerpiece

The most spectacular element is the flea market: 700 stalls extend for about two kilometers throughout the entire town center. Private sellers, antique dealers, and collectors offer:

  • Antiques and vintage furniture
  • Vinyl records, CDs, books
  • Clothing and fashion
  • Toys and collectibles
  • Dishes and household items
  • Tools and garden supplies
  • Jewelry and accessories

Program — Friday to Sunday

The festival program follows a packed three-day rhythm:

  • Friday, Oct 9:
  • 3:00 PM — Football Cup of the Freckenhorst clubs
  • 7:00 PM — Live Music in restaurants and on stage
  • Saturday, Oct 10:
  • 6:00 AM — Early 'Brötchen-Tour' at the local bakery (early bread break for setup helpers)
  • 7:00 AM — Market Opening with the first stalls
  • Morning — Orchestra Concert
  • 11:00 AM — Barrel Tapping Ceremony, the traditional mayoral act
  • All day — Flea market, amusement rides, food stalls
  • Sunday, Oct 11:
  • Morning — Relaxed breakfast at the bakeries
  • All day — Flea market remains open
  • Afternoon — Closing Concert 'BFF Brass' (Brass Ensemble)

Freckenhorst — Collegiate Town in Münsterland

Freckenhorst is a district of the town of Warendorf in the Warendorf district (eastern Münsterland, North Rhine-Westphalia). The town has a significant history as a collegiate town — the Collegiate Church of St. Boniface, dating back to the 12th century, is one of the most important Romanesque churches in Münsterland and gives the town center its characteristic atmosphere. With around 2,500 inhabitants, Freckenhorst is small — which makes the 700-stall flea market all the more impressive: it far exceeds the population.

The Freckenhorst Business Association

The organizer is the Freckenhorster Werbegemeinschaft e.V. (Freckenhorst Business Association) — the association of local clubs, businesses, and engaged citizens. This volunteer structure enables the extraordinary scale of the event. Applications for flea market stalls are handled via freckenhorst.com.
