Laser and drone show over the lake to kick off the swimming season
The Fontänenfest on Glambecker See is a city festival in Neustrelitz, the baroque residential city in the Mecklenburg Lake District (Mecklenburg-Vorpommern). It marks the switching on of the lake fountain – an image many residents remember from earlier years. Stadtwerke Neustrelitz is reviving this tradition and simultaneously celebrating its 35th anniversary.
Instead of a classic fireworks display, the organizers are opting for a modern production: a laser and drone show with a light choreography around the fountain and over Glambecker See. In its first iteration, the laser show featured, among other things, the Strelitzia, the city's heraldic flower. The combination of water features and light technology offers an environmentally friendly alternative to fireworks and a spectacle reflected in the lake.
The Fontänenfest is designed as an evening event. It opens with the entry of a fanfare band, followed by a stage program with a dance group and DJ, as well as catering and drinks. The highlight and conclusion is the laser and drone show after dark, when the fountain in Glambecker See also goes into operation.
Glambecker See, with its bathing area, is a popular local recreation spot for Neustrelitz residents. The Fontänenfest provides a festive accent at the beginning of the warm season and fits into the diverse range of events offered by the residential city.
The Fontänenfest on Glambecker See took place on April 24, 2026 – on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of Stadtwerke Neustrelitz and as a revival of an old tradition.
The evening began at 6 p.m. with the entry of a fanfare band. On the stage between the Carolinum and the Strelitzhalle, the dance group Tanzhaus and a DJ provided entertainment, along with catering and drinks. The highlight at 10 p.m. was the laser and drone show with a light choreography over Glambecker See; simultaneously, the lake fountain was put into operation. The laser show featured, among other things, the Strelitzia, the city's heraldic flower.
