Special Note
Not to be confused with the Brandenburg Village and Harvest Festival in Damelang (September 11–13, 2026) — same period, different event.
Görzke — Pottery Village in the Hoher Fläming
Görzke is a village of 1,000 inhabitants in the district of Potsdam-Mittelmark, located on the western edge of the Hoher Fläming — the hilly landscape southwest of Brandenburg an der Havel. Görzke is famous for its pottery tradition: clay deposits mined here have been processed ceramically since the 13th century. Today, several potteries are active, and the Handwerkerhof Görzke is a tourist attraction that bundles several workshops — pottery, basket weaving, blacksmithing — under one roof.
Flämingmarkt and District Harvest Festival Combined
The Flämingmarkt will be held for the 22nd time on September 12th and 13th, 2026, and is also the District Harvest Festival of the Potsdam-Mittelmark district. This dual function explains the broad program: on the one hand, a regional gourmet market with direct marketers from the Fläming and Havelland regions, and on the other hand, an official harvest celebration with farmers and rural women from the entire district.
District Ploughing Competition on Saturday Morning
The program highlight on Saturday is the District Ploughing Competition — a contest where farmers from the district draw predetermined furrows with historical or modern ploughs, judged on the straightness, depth, and cleanliness of the work. A tradition that has been maintained in Brandenburg for decades, making agriculture visible as a craft. The winners qualify for the State Ploughing Competition.
Traditional Crafts Live
At the Handwerkerhof itself, craftspeople will showcase their skills throughout the weekend: pottery on several wheels with the opportunity to participate, spinning on the spinning wheel by wool processors, grain milling on a historical hand mill, blacksmithing, and basket weaving. Many tools can be tried out by visitors — a lively connection to the region's pre-industrial crafts.
Harvest Wreath Competition and Rural Women's Kitchen
The District Rural Women are doubly present: with the Harvest Wreath Competition, where local associations submit artistic harvest wreaths made of grain and flowers, and with the Rural Women's Kitchen, offering regional specialties — fresh potato pancakes, spreads, honey, cheese, juices, rapeseed oil, smoked fish. A culinary tour through the Hoher Fläming in a small space. Plus live music, children's activities, and a varied stage program. Free admission.
