Easter Market of Brandenburg's Pottery Capital with around 70 ceramic workshops
Görzke is a district of the municipality Wiesenburg/Mark in the Potsdam-Mittelmark district, about 80 km southwest of Berlin. With only around 800 inhabitants, Görzke is small — and at the same time one of Germany's most important pottery towns. The pottery tradition dates back to the 17th century, when the good clay deposits around the town led to the establishment of a potters' guild. Today, Görzke still has several active potteries — a consciously maintained heritage that distinguishes the town from many other Brandenburg villages.
The Görzke Pottery Market was established in 1996 and celebrates its 31st edition in 2026. It traditionally takes place on Easter weekend, on Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday. The venue is the Handwerkerhof at Wiesenburger Straße 2, right next to the Görzke outdoor swimming pool — an open area that offers ample space for the approximately 70 exhibitors.
Exhibitors travel from all over Germany — from Bauhaus style to traditional Bürgel ceramics, from functional porcelain to experimental sculptural ceramics. The range includes:
Many potteries demonstrate the potter's wheel on-site, let children knead clay, or explain the firing process. The atmosphere is that of a craft fair with a folk festival character: bratwurst stands, coffee stalls, garden ceramics in the spring sunshine.
The Pottery Market is one of the few major Easter events in Brandenburg that are not religiously motivated but celebrate a craft tradition. Over 10,000 visitors come annually — many from Berlin, Potsdam, Magdeburg, and Leipzig. Anyone looking for an unusual Easter excursion idea and wanting to buy handmade ceramics directly from the workshops for gifts or their own household will find it here.
On Holy Saturday, April 4th, and Easter Sunday, April 5th, 2026, the 31st Görzke Pottery Market will open its stalls at the Handwerkerhof on Wiesenburger Straße.
Around 70 potteries and ceramic workshops from all over Germany will present functional ceramics, porcelain, garden ceramics, sculptures, and unique pieces. Many exhibitors will demonstrate the potter's wheel and explain firing processes. Atmosphere: a craft fair with folk festival charm, food stalls, live demonstrations.
