Benefit rock festival for the Hospiz Wohld in Mielkendorf near Kiel
The Fight Cancer Festival was launched in 2025 by a group of music lovers around an acquaintance who was personally affected by cancer. The idea: a full day of rock music, heavy riffs, shared energy – and at the same time, a concrete sign of solidarity by donating all proceeds to the Hospiz Wohld near Kiel, which supports terminally ill patients in their final phase of life.
The festival takes place at Gut Blockshagen, a traditional manor farm on the western outskirts of Kiel, which opens its Hofstube for the event. The ambiance – brick, thatched roof, wide fields – stands in productive contrast to the loud music and gives the festival its own character, which is neither a typical club nor a typical festival meadow.
Programmatically, the festival focuses on raw guitar music – Stoner Rock, Hardcore, classic rock, occasional metal elements. For 2026, the lineup includes acts like Giant Haze (Stoner Rock from Kiel) and 2 Legs Bad (Hardcore). The atmosphere is deliberately kept family-friendly – the festival explicitly aims to connect generations and not be a purely scene-specific event.
Mielkendorf (municipality of Mielkendorf, OT Blockshagen) is located directly west of the Kiel city limits in the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district and is reachable by car in 15 minutes from Kiel city center. Its location makes the festival both close to Kiel and rural-relaxed – a typical festival location in the commuter belt of a state capital.
Unlike commercial festivals, the Fight Cancer Festival is a pure benefit format: ticket sales, beverage revenue, and donations go entirely to the Hospiz Wohld. The 2025 premiere generated €4,200 in donations from around 200 visitors – for the 2026 edition, the organizers are ambitious to increase both visitor numbers and donation amounts.
Following the successful premiere in 2025 (200 visitors, €4,200 in donations), the organizers announce the Fight Cancer Festival 2.0 for Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Gut Blockshagen in Mielkendorf. Two acts are already confirmed: Giant Haze, a Stoner Rock band from Kiel, and 2 Legs Bad from the North German Hardcore scene. More bands will be announced in the run-up.
As with the premiere, all proceeds – from ticket sales, beverage revenue, and voluntary donations – will go to the Hospiz Wohld. The organizers aim to significantly increase both visitor numbers and donation amounts compared to 2025.
