Atmospheric Advent market on the church square between the collegiate church and St. John's Church
The Feuchtwangen Christmas Market has a special backdrop: it takes place on the idyllic church square, framed by the late Romanesque Collegiate Church and the Gothic St. John's Church. This unique location between the two churches gives the market its distinctive, atmospheric character.
Traditionally, the market opens its doors around the four Advent weekends. The town transforms into a small winter wonderland that delights visitors with its warm, bright, and glittering light and traditional charm. Decorated stalls offer arts and crafts and local delicacies.
Local clubs and associations, together with the Feuchtwangen Business Association (Spitzchen e.V.), create a Christmas market that thrives on voluntary work. The proceeds benefit regional initiatives and charitable organizations. The musical supporting program is provided by local bands, choirs, and ensembles, whose performances add atmospheric accents on Advent evenings.
A special highlight, especially for children, is the appearance of the Feuchtwangen Christkind, St. Nicholas, and Pelzermärtel – a Franconian companion figure to St. Nicholas. These appearances make the market a popular family destination in the pre-Christmas period.
Feuchtwangen is located in the district of Ansbach on the Romantic Road and is considered the "Festival City of Franconia." The historic old town with its cloister makes the town a popular destination all year round – especially in the Advent season due to the Christmas market.
The market will again open its doors on the four Advent weekends in 2026 on the atmospheric church square. Confirmed via tourismus-feuchtwangen.de and the Spitzchen e.V. business association. Exact daily dates will be published in autumn 2026; the first Advent 2026 falls on the weekend of November 29th.
