City Festival Meets Fairground — The Bexbach Mix
What sets the City Fest Bexbach apart from other Saarland city festivals is its unique blend: 'The special thing about the Bexbach City Festival is the combination of a city festival and a fairground,' according to the official website. While other towns organize either one or the other, Bexbach combines both – live stage programs like a classic city festival, plus amusement rides and showman attractions like a fairground. This combination attracts a broad audience: from concert enthusiasts and families to adrenaline junkies.
Three Days, Three Moods
The festival program runs from Friday to Sunday with different focuses. Friday from 6 PM to 1 AM – Opening with the first live concerts, kick-off party atmosphere. Saturday from 2 PM to 1 AM – Main concert day with the biggest bands, fairground in full operation. Sunday from 10 AM to 10 PM – Family day with morning pint concert, children's program, and a more relaxed conclusion.
Stages and Bands
Several stages are spread across the festival grounds. The main stage at Aloys-Nesseler-Platz features the bigger bands, while smaller stages on Bahnhofstraße offer local acts and newcomers. Genres are mixed – rock, pop, Schlager, cover bands, sometimes even jazz or funk. The City Fest has a broad musical lineup, consciously aiming to appeal to multiple target groups.
Local Gastronomy as Vendors
A special feature is that the catering is largely organized by local restaurateurs and associations from Bexbach. Instead of large fast-food chains, you'll find Bexbach's own restaurateurs and volunteer associations here – offering Saarland specialties (Schwenker, Lyoner, Dampfnudeln), classic festival food (bratwurst, fries, crêpes), and regional beer. This strengthens the city festival feeling: the town celebrates with its own restaurateurs, not with external vendors.
Bexbach — City of Flowers and Höcherberg Town
Bexbach, located in the Saarpfalz district, is a town with just under 17,000 inhabitants and two proud nicknames: 'Blumenstadt' (City of Flowers) due to its widely known garden, and 'Höcherbergstadt' (Höcherberg Town) because of its prominent local mountain. The town lies in eastern Saarland, directly on the border with Rhineland-Palatinate. Besides the City Fest, the Betschbacher Kerb in September and the Mondscheinmarkt are among the most important town events.
