About Fête de la Musique Wendenschloss
Fête de la Musique Wendenschloss — edition 2026
On the longest day of the year, Strandbad Wendenschloss opens its sunbathing lawn for an open concert format. From 2:30 PM to 9:00 PM, several bands and solo acts will perform consecutively – the spectrum typically ranges from folk, pop, singer-songwriter, and Latin sounds. Between sets, there's time for a swim in the Dahme or a snack at the beach bar.
As with every Fête de la Musique, the principle of 'play for free, listen for free' applies: musicians perform without a fee, and organizers and the audience do not pay. The detailed program will be communicated shortly before June 21 via the Strandbad's channels and the Berlin-wide Fête portal.

A Lido as a Summer Stage
The Strandbad Wendenschloss is one of Berlin's oldest and most atmospheric outdoor swimming pools. Nestled in the district of the same name in Treptow-Köpenick, it lies directly on the west bank of the Dahme River – with views of Grünauer Wald and Müggelheim. On June 21, 2026, the sunbathing lawn at Möllhausenufer 30 will become an open concert space for an afternoon and a balmy summer evening. Free admission, bring your own picnic allowed, dancing recommended.
Part of the Berlin-wide Fête de la Musique
The Fête de la Musique is Europe's largest free music festival. It originated from a French initiative in 1982 and has been celebrated in Berlin every year on June 21 since 1995 – the day of the summer solstice. In over a hundred districts between Spandau and Köpenick, from Mauerpark to Mierendorff Island, thousands of musicians perform on stages, courtyards, and squares. Strandbad Wendenschloss is one of the locations that presents itself year after year under the festival's umbrella.
Program Character on the Dahme Riverbank
Several live acts will perform throughout the afternoon and evening. The program traditionally ranges from folk, pop, singer-songwriter, Latin, and acoustic bands, curated by the Strandbad team and local neighborhood initiatives. Between sets, there's time for a swim in the Dahme, a snack from the Strandbad's snack bar, or a walk along the riverbank. Families, Wendenschloss residents, and culture enthusiasts from all over southeastern Berlin share the sunbathing lawn in a relaxed atmosphere.
Köpenick and its Waterways
Wendenschloss is a district in Treptow-Köpenick, framed by the Dahme River, Langer See lake, and Müggelheim forests. The Strandbad, with its wooden changing cabins and sandy sunbathing areas, boasts over a century of tradition – it was one of Berlin's favorite excursion destinations in the early 20th century. Today, it represents a different Berlin: quiet, close to nature, far from the hustle and bustle of the capital. On a summer evening with live music, it feels almost like a southern German bathing lake – but right in the state of Berlin, in the district equivalent of Treptow-Köpenick.
One Day, Three Hours of Sunset
The summer solstice is the longest day of the year. Those who spend June 21 on the Wendenschloss riverbank will experience daylight until almost 10 PM. The festival ends at 9 PM – early enough to continue afterwards at sunset through the Spree tunnel or by ferry to Grünau.
