One of Berlin's largest family festivals — up to 40,000 visitors at FEZ-Berlin, Wuhlheide
For years, RABATZ has been Berlin's largest open-air festival for families with young and middle-aged children. The organizer is Radio TEDDY, the nationally known Berlin-Brandenburg children's radio station — and with FEZ-Berlin in Wuhlheide, the festival has one of Berlin's most atmospheric venues for family events.
FEZ-Berlin (Leisure and Recreation Center) is located in the middle of Wuhlheide, Berlin's second-largest city park in the Oberschöneweide district (Treptow-Köpenick borough). On approximately 90 hectares of outdoor space with its own bathing pond, water stage, tent stages, the FEZ main building, and a park stage, several program zones run in parallel during the RABATZ days — suitable for several thousand families at once.
The RABATZ program traditionally spans the following stages and activity areas:
One of RABATZ's hallmarks: admission is free. This makes the festival accessible across generations and distinguishes it from many other commercial family festivals. The festival is financed by Radio TEDDY and sponsors such as Berliner Sparkasse, Höffner, HABA, and Jumphouse.
With up to 40,000 visitors over two days, RABATZ is one of the major open-air events of the Berlin late summer. It traditionally takes place on the last weekend of August, shortly before the start of school in Berlin and Brandenburg — thus concluding the family summer season with a large, open-air event.
Radio TEDDY will publish specific daily programs about 2–3 weeks before the festival begins on rabatz-festival.de and in the festival app. Expected opening hours: Sat 11 AM–7 PM, Sun 11 AM–5 PM — adjustments possible depending on the stage program.
Program modules 2026 (typical structure):
Free admission. Hands-on stations with material costs may have a small fee (typically €1–€3); Bibi & Tina live shows are free of charge. Food and drinks on the FEZ grounds are regularly priced.
S-Bahn line S3 to Wuhlheide (10-minute walk to FEZ) or Tram 27, 67 to Eichgestell. By car: Parking available around Wuhlheide; often quickly occupied during large festivals — public transport recommended.
Free admission. Hands-on activities, craft materials, and some experience areas may incur a small fee (low amounts); Bibi & Tina live cast shows are included free of charge.
Several food stalls on the FEZ grounds offering child-friendly options (sausages, fries, vegetarian options, ice cream, drinks). Picnicking on the outdoor grounds is generally permitted.
Stroller-friendly, with plenty of changing and seating facilities. FEZ's own family offerings in the main building remain partially accessible.
