The 17th edition of Festival-Mediaval (XVII) takes place from Friday, September 11, to Sunday, September 13, 2026, at the Goldberg in Selb under the theme Legends. The program features numerous confirmed bands, including In Extremo with a special anniversary show celebrating their 30th year, Corvus Corax performing Cantus Buranus with a full orchestra, and Subway to Sally presenting their album Nord Nord Ost. The event also includes a medieval market, encampments, and a family-friendly program.

Festival-Mediaval 2026 fully embraces its Legends theme, celebrating the close-knit festival family. Since 2025, the festival has been directed by Ulf Schertel (Admiral Ulf), who took over from long-time founder “Bläcky”; the event is organized by Mediaval GmbH.

The musical spectrum ranges from powerful medieval rock and acoustic folk sounds to traditional medieval dance music. Headliners include In Extremo with a show marking their 30th anniversary. Corvus Corax will bring the Cantus Buranus to the stage with a large orchestra, and Subway to Sally will perform their album Nord Nord Ost. Beyond the music, the weekend features a medieval market, historical encampments, living chess, acrobatics, theater, and workshops.

Getting There

Selb is located on the A 93 (Selb-Nord/Süd exit), and the Goldberg is signposted. By train to Selb Stadt or Marktredwitz, then shuttle or public transport. Camping is possible on the festival grounds.

Since 2008, Festival-Mediaval has been a cornerstone of the European medieval and folk scene. On the expansive Goldberg grounds on the outskirts of Selb, the sounds of thundering bagpipes, medieval dance music, and amplified medieval rock meet a sprawling market, street performers, fire shows, and a vibrant encampment. With thousands of guests, it stands as one of the largest events of its kind on the continent.
