Italian Gourmet Festival in the Heart of Bamberg

The Festa Italica Bamberg brings a week of Italian lifestyle to Maximiliansplatz (Maxplatz for short) in Bamberg, a UNESCO World Heritage site. In 2026, the third edition runs from June 3rd to 7th – coinciding with Corpus Christi and the following bridge day, traditionally making for a long festive Friday.

2026 Program Overview

Italian bands and solo artists will provide the atmosphere on stage over five festival days:

  • Wed, June 3rd – 4:00 PM–9:30 PM · Eddi Mautone Duo from 6:00 PM · official opening 6:30 PM
  • Thu, June 4th (Corpus Christi) – 11:00 AM–9:30 PM · Mona La Banda 1:00 PM · Marco Augusto & Band 6:00 PM
  • Fri, June 5th – 4:00 PM–10:00 PM · Rossinis 6:00 PM
  • Sat, June 6th – 11:00 AM–10:00 PM · Alessandro Mega 12:30 PM · G2 6:00 PM
  • Sun, June 7th – 11:00 AM–9:30 PM · regional reception with shooting associations 11:30 AM · Angelo Belfiore & il-Duo 5:30 PM

Italian Cuisine and Vespa Atmosphere

Festa Italica focuses on authentic Italian gastronomy: Pizza, Pasta, Arancini, Antipasti, Italian wines, Aperol Spritz, and Espresso. Classic Vespa scooters and three-wheeled Ape vans will be used as decoration – along with old wine presses, the setup creates a Mediterranean piazza atmosphere in the heart of the Upper Franconian bishop's city.

Stadtmarketing Bamberg as Organizer

The event is organized by Stadtmarketing Bamberg e.V. together with Zametzer & Krohn GbR, an event company specializing in Italian gourmet festivals from Middle Franconia. The concept was previously established successfully in Nuremberg and has been part of Bamberg's event calendar since 2024.

Bamberg as a UNESCO World Heritage Site

Bamberg, an Upper Franconian bishop's city in the Bamberg district, has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1993. The medieval old town with its Bergstadt, Inselstadt, and Gärtnerstadt attracts millions of visitors each year. Maximiliansplatz, with its fountain and Maxbrücke, is one of the central squares and a preferred location for city festivals and markets.

Gourmet Festival with Local Connection

The combination of an Italian festival format and the Franconian city backdrop is what makes Festa Italica special: Bamberg guests meet Italian exhibitors, regional shooting associations appear on the festival Sunday, and tourists mingle in the typically summery aperitivo atmosphere.

Tips

Corpus Christi Thursday (June 4th) is a public holiday in Bavaria – making it particularly busy, especially with the following bridge day. Recommended: Reserve a spot on Maxplatz at lunchtime or visit on the festival Sunday with the shooting associations' reception. Bamberg invites you to extend your stay: take a tour of the old town, see the Bamberger Reiter in the cathedral, or try Rauchbier (smoked beer) at one of the breweries.
