Italian street festival in Theresienstraße and Rosengasse
Ferragosto is the Italian street festival in Passau's old town. Named after the Italian summer holiday Ferragosto (August 15th), the restaurateurs of Theresienstraße and Rosengasse transform their streets into a vibrant piece of Italy.
The focus is on wine, Spritz, and the finest Cucina Italiana, accompanied by Italian live music. Participating establishments such as Zi'Teresa, das Weingut, Café Chaplin, the ice cream parlor La Veneziana, Sapori della Toscana, Café Lopes, and Shivalaya ensure Mediterranean delights and a southern flair along the alleys.
The festival is organized by City Marketing Passau e.V. in cooperation with the restaurateurs of Theresienstraße. Passau has historically maintained close ties with Northern Italy – through trade and history. Ferragosto picks up on this tradition and makes it tangible as a summer city festival.
Passau is an independent city in the Bavarian administrative region of Lower Bavaria, known as the City on Three Rivers at the confluence of the Danube, Inn, and Ilz. The old town architecture, reminiscent of Italy with its narrow alleys, provides the ideal backdrop for a festival that brings Mediterranean joie de vivre to the region.
