Neighborhood festival at Westerwaldplatz in Spandau
The Falkenhagener Feld in Berlin's Spandau district is one of the large post-war housing estates from the 1960s and 1970s. With the neighborhood festival, the district has created its own annual event since 2006, supported by the community, bringing together neighborhood work, culture, and encounters.
The festival is intentionally accessible and combines neighborhood information with family entertainment:
The venue is Westerwaldplatz – a neighborhood square in the center of Falkenhagener Feld, surrounded by Klubhaus Spandau, the district library, and the Zufluchtskirche parish. This concentration of social facilities makes the square the natural center of the festival. In 2026, a new temporary neighborhood center will also open in Falkenhagener Feld (March 2026), further strengthening the social infrastructure.
The festival is organized by the association KNiFF e.V. together with Klubhaus Spandau, with financial and organizational support from the Falkenhagener Feld Ost and West neighborhood managements. This makes the festival part of the Berlin funding initiative "Soziale Stadt" (Social City), which aims to give districts with special development needs their own cultural visibility.
Spandau, in the far west of Berlin, is one of the largest Berlin districts with nearly 250,000 inhabitants and has several large housing estates, including Falkenhagener Feld, Heerstraße, and Staaken. Neighborhood festivals like this one are an important link between administration, associations, and residents here.
The 19th edition of the Falkenhagener Feld neighborhood festival is scheduled for autumn 2026. The venue is expected to remain Westerwaldplatz, the typical neighborhood center between Klubhaus Spandau, the district library, and the Zufluchtsgemeinde parish.
As in previous years, a mix of informational stalls from social initiatives, a stage program with music and dance, hands-on activities, sports demonstrations, and children's activities is expected. Specific dates, bands, and program details will be announced in due course by Klubhaus Spandau and KNiFF e.V.
In 2026, a new temporary neighborhood center will also open in Falkenhagener Feld (March 2026). This integrates the neighborhood festival into a broader wave of community-focused activities.
The detailed 2026 program will be published by Klubhaus Spandau and KNiFF e.V. during the summer months on falkenhagener-feld-west.de. Based on previous years, the following components can be anticipated:
The event usually lasts four to five hours, from early afternoon to early evening.
