Two days dedicated to the sea at the MeerBühne on Südstrand
The Baltic Sea spa Großenbrode on the peninsula between Fehmarnsund and Heiligenhafen has been a place where maritime identity is still visibly lived for decades. ErlebnisMaritim bundles this identity over a weekend in July: at the MeerBühne on Südstrand, shanty choirs, coastal musicians, model builders, hobby sailors, and culinary exhibitors with a maritime focus present themselves for two days.
The program is designed as a family- and holidaymaker-friendly beach format. The focus is on:
The MeerBühne is Großenbrode's central open-air stage. It is located on Südstrand with a direct view of the Baltic Sea and the Fehmarnsund (sundial bridge on the horizon) and forms the heart of the summer event season — in addition to ErlebnisMaritim, MeerPfingsten, the Pentecost festival on Südstrand, as well as numerous other concerts and festival formats take place here throughout the year. Its location on the beach makes the stage one of the most atmospheric venues in the Lübeck Bay.
The Baltic Sea spa Großenbrode is located in the district of Ostholstein on the narrow land connection between the mainland and the island of Fehmarn. With around 2,200 inhabitants, the municipality is small but very popular with tourists — the kilometer-long beaches on the south and north parts of the peninsula, the marina, and its direct location on the A1 / E47 / E45 attract thousands of holidaymakers every year. The organizers complement the tourist season with a bouquet of events — ErlebnisMaritim is one of the most characteristic of them.
The 2026 edition of ErlebnisMaritim takes place on the first weekend of July — embedded in Großenbrode's high summer season. The MeerBühne on Südstrand becomes the venue for a family-oriented maritime event over the weekend: shanty performances, coastal songs, exhibition stands about shipping and maritime culture, plus culinary offerings with North and Baltic Sea character.
Unlike the larger festivals on the Baltic Sea coast (Travemünder Woche, Kieler Woche), ErlebnisMaritim remains a compact local event — the stage, the beach backdrop, and the local identity form the framework. Free admission makes the program accessible to guests and locals alike.
Detailed performance times and choir setlists will be published in the weeks before the event on grossenbrode.de. The exact schedule for the second half of the program is still marked as 'Program to follow' on the organizer's website.
