The Football Pitch as the Village Centre

The football pitch in Solschen is more than just a sports ground. For decades, it has been the informal meeting point for the village youth and a central part of the village infrastructure. The Bolzplatzfestival uses this significance and turns the pitch into a festival ground for one day, where the entire village community comes together.

Sports Programme

The focus of the festival is on sporting activities around the football pitch. Mini-tournaments in football, skill games, and competitions for different age groups ensure an active programme. Participants come from the village itself, from the surrounding districts of the Ilsede municipality, and sometimes from further afield.

Live Music and Catering

Parallel to the sports programme, live music from a regional band or DJ sets create a relaxed festival atmosphere. The catering is provided by the village community, offering bratwurst, drinks, cakes, and small snacks for visitors' physical well-being. This voluntary organisation is characteristic of the festival and deliberately keeps the entry threshold low.

Family Programme

For the youngest visitors, there is a dedicated family programme with games, small competitions, and craft activities. The mix of sporting competition for adults and supervised activities for children makes the Bolzplatzfestival a day where the whole family can find their place.

Low-Threshold Format

Unlike classic village and Schützenfeste, the Bolzplatzfestival has a deliberately low-threshold character. No festival tent with an entrance fee, no elaborate parade, no late-night dance event. Instead, a concentrated day festival that celebrates the football pitch as a village meeting point and brings the village community together in a relaxed manner.
