Three Days of Another World

Schloss Blumenthal is located in the Aichach-Friedberg district in Bavarian Swabia, between Augsburg and Munich. The historic moated castle with its park, orchards, and castle restaurant serves as the backdrop for a festival that has attracted a dedicated fantasy community for over 15 years. The event is organized by Kunst und Kulturverein e.V. Schloss Blumenthal, a cooperative that operates the site as a living, residential, and cultural project.

The Four Elements as a Concept

The festival is spatially divided into four themed villages, each dedicated to an element: Earth Village (with herb workshops, nature crafts), Fire Village (with fire shows and blacksmith demonstrations), Water Village (with singing bowl journeys and water ceremonies), Air Village (with storytelling, theatre, and music). There is also a Children's Village with age-appropriate workshops. Visitors are encouraged to come dressed in a colour representing their preferred element – red for fire, blue for water, brown for earth, white for air.

The Elfenpfad (Elf Path)

The centerpiece and main magical attraction is the Elfenpfad, which winds through the castle park. Face-painted and costumed performers as elves, nature spirits, dwarves, and trolls interact with visitors, short theatre scenes are performed, and light installations create atmosphere. In the evening, fire shows and light art take centre stage.

Diverse Programme

Workshops and hands-on activities include theatre courses, singing bowl journeys, fairy tales from another world, explorations of the bee world, Stone Age fire-making, herb walks, and fairy tale performances (The Frog Prince, other classics). Accompanying live music (folk, medieval, world music) and a medieval market with artisans, goldsmiths, tailors, and culinary stalls complete the offering.

Mottos and Annual Themes

Each year, the festival is dedicated to a motto: 2025 "Water is Our Strength", 2026 "The Heart Flame Awakens". These mottos shape the programme, workshops, and performances – ensuring that even returning visitors discover something new each year.

Getting There and Accommodation

Schloss Blumenthal is located in the Klingen district of Aichach, just under 20 km northeast of Augsburg. Accessible by car via the A8 (exit Augsburg-Ost) or B300. Camping is possible on the festival grounds; further accommodation is available in Aichach (5 km) or Augsburg.
