The traditional district fair of the Eibach/Maiach suburban association in Nuremberg
The Eibacher Kärwa is the district fair (Kirchweih) of the Nuremberg district of Eibach, organized by the Vorstadtverein Nürnberg-Eibach/Maiach e.V. It is one of the traditional Kirchweihen in the major city of Nuremberg and takes place on the festival grounds at the Eichenhain.
For several days, visitors can expect a marquee, rides, and stalls. Customs are at the heart of the event: the raising of the children's maypole, the official beer tapping by the Mayor of Nuremberg, the Kärwazug (fair procession) followed by the raising of the main maypole, and an ecumenical church service.
The event traditionally concludes with a family day featuring reduced prices, face painting, and a closing ceremony — crowned by fireworks and the humorous Kärwabeerdigung, with which the Kirchweih is symbolically laid to rest.
Nuremberg, an independent city in Middle Franconia, Bavaria, maintains a vibrant Franconian Kirchweih tradition with numerous district fairs. The Eibacher Kärwa is one of the fixed summer dates in the south of the city.
The Eibacher Kärwa 2026 will be celebrated from June 19 to 23, 2026, at the festival grounds in Eichenhain, Nuremberg-Eibach. The organizer is the Vorstadtverein Nürnberg-Eibach/Maiach e.V.
The schedule follows established customs: raising of the children's maypole, the official beer tapping by the Mayor of Nuremberg, the Kärwazug (fair procession) with the raising of the main maypole and an ecumenical church service, as well as the family day with reduced prices, face painting, and the concluding Kärwabeerdigung (fair burial) with fireworks. The detailed program for 2026, including the individual music groups, will be published by the Vorstadtverein before the Kärwa.
The specific music groups and the exact timetable for 2026 will be announced by the Vorstadtverein Nürnberg-Eibach/Maiach e.V. before the Kärwa; a complete list of names was not yet publicly available at the time of publication.
