Traditional district festival on the first weekend of July with Eberwin Olympics and barrel tapping
The festival name goes back to the Franconian nobleman Eberwin, who made a donation to the Lorsch Monastery on June 26, 767 – and thus mentioned Obereisesheim in a document for the first time. The donation certificate, preserved in the Lorsch Codex, is the origin of the district and the reason for the Eberwinfest. You will experience a festival here that proudly looks back on its over 1,250-year history while also living modern village community.
The organizer is the Obereisesheim Local Association – an alliance of all clubs, associations, churches, and schools in the district. The music association, the TSV, the fire department, the rural women, the kindergartens, the church communities, and many other organizations pull together. The Eberwinfest is their common showcase – and the highlight of the club year.
The kick-off is traditionally the barrel tapping on Saturday afternoon by the Lord Mayor of Neckarsulm and the District Administrator of Obereisesheim. Afterwards, the festival weekend starts with live music from the music associations, food stalls from the clubs, a showman's carousel, and a bungee jumping stand, which is particularly popular with younger visitors.
The actual highlight is the Eberwin Olympics on Sunday – a humorous club competition where all member clubs compete against each other in disciplines such as wellie throwing, water bucket relay, bratwurst eating contest, and creative skill games. The challenge trophy is traditionally awarded with great fanfare, and in the evening, the festival concludes with live bands and dance music.
With around 4,000 inhabitants, Obereisesheim is one of Neckarsulm's larger districts. Characterized by viticulture, scattered orchards, and the historic town center with the Eberwin monument, it forms a haven of peace between the Audi city of Neckarsulm and the vineyards of the lower Heilbronn region. Its location on the Neckartal cycle path also makes it interesting for cycle tourism.
The date follows the decades-old tradition: the first weekend of July. The exact program will be gradually published by the Obereisesheim Local Association starting in spring 2026. As usual, the festival starts on Saturday afternoon with the barrel tapping by the Lord Mayor of Neckarsulm and ends on Sunday evening after the Eberwin Olympics.
More than 30 clubs, associations, churches, and schools from Obereisesheim participate in the Eberwinfest. They run food stalls, cocktail bars, children's craft and play stations, and information booths. This makes the Eberwinfest more than just a folk festival – it is the showcase of club life in Obereisesheim.
