A New District Festival for Ronsdorf

Wuppertal-Ronsdorf has one of the most famous district festivals in the Bergisches Land region with the traditional Liefersack Festival – but only every two years. In the interim years, a central summer festival on Bandwirkerplatz has been missing. With the dissolution of the "W.i.R." business association, the Heimat- und Bürgerverein Ronsdorf (HuB) has taken over several established events and needs additional sources of income. The result: the new Dorffest Ronsdorf, which celebrates its premiere in June 2026.

When and Where is the Premiere?

The first Dorffest Ronsdorf will take place on Friday, June 19, and Saturday, June 20, 2026, starting at 5:00 PM on Bandwirkerplatz. Setup will be on June 18. For the first time, reusable cups from the HuB will be used – a step towards sustainable district festivals.

The Program

The first edition focuses on a compact, clear concept:

• Friday evening, June 19, 2026 – Live music with a surprise guest
• Saturday evening, June 20, 2026 – DJ set
• Culinary Delights – Crêpes, grilled and currywurst, fries, roast pork with crackling, Irish stew, possibly pasta
• Drinks – Wine, cocktails, non-alcoholic options
• Reusable cups from the HuB, purchased with the first drink, usable for future club festivals

Heimat- und Bürgerverein Ronsdorf

The organizer is the Heimat- und Bürgerverein Ronsdorf (HuB), one of the oldest citizens' associations in Wuppertal. The association is committed to the life of the district, organizes traditional events (Christmas market, Liefersack, district tours), and is increasingly taking over tasks that were previously handled by the "W.i.R." association or the business association. The Dorffest is part of this new role.

Bandwirkerplatz – The Heart of Ronsdorf

Bandwirkerplatz is the central square in the Ronsdorf town center, at the foot of Marktstraße. The name is a reminder of bandweaving, historically an important textile industry in Ronsdorf. Today, the square is the district's market and meeting point – ideal for a new summer festival that seeks its stage right here.

Ronsdorf – Bergisches Bergland in Wuppertal

Ronsdorf is one of the highest districts of Wuppertal (around 320 meters above sea level) and has a very independent character: for a long time, it was an independent town, only incorporated into Wuppertal in 1929, with its own club life, its own parish, its own traditions. Anyone visiting Ronsdorf immediately notices: you are not in the Wuppertal valley here, but in your own small mountain town.
