Symphonic Summer Concert by the Bergische Symphoniker at the Heimatbund Lüttringhausen — Free Admission
On Sunday, July 19, 2026, starting at 6:00 PM, the Heimatbund Lüttringhausen, in collaboration with the Bergische Symphoniker, invites you to a summer open-air concert. The venue is the Heimatbund's grounds at Gertenbachstraße 9, in the Lüttringhausen district of Remscheid — a green district in the north of the city with a village character and an active club culture. Admission is free — a rare gift to the region.
The Bergische Symphoniker is the joint symphony orchestra of the cities of Remscheid and Solingen in the Bergisches Land region. With around 80 musicians, the orchestra is one of North Rhine-Westphalia's municipal ensembles, performing in both classical concert halls (Teo Otto Theater Remscheid, Theater und Konzerthaus Solingen) and experimental formats like the summer open-air. The repertoire ranges from Baroque to modern, from classical music to film scores and popular concert hits.
The musical director of the open-air is Samira Nasser. Young conductors often get the opportunity to perform with the orchestra at summer open-airs — making this series an important stage for the next generation of German conductors.
The open-air program of a typical Bergische Symphoniker concert mixes:
The concert is family-friendly, usually lasts 90–120 minutes, and is also suitable for children experiencing an orchestra live for the first time.
The Heimatbund Lüttringhausen is one of the district's most traditional associations. It preserves local history, operates a small museum, and organizes lectures and events. The grounds at Gertenbachstraße 9, with a large meadow and a farm-like character, provide the ideal backdrop for a summer open-air — picnic blankets on the grass, catering by the Heimatbund, the stage with the orchestra in front.
Open-air means it's weather-dependent — organizers reserve the right to cancel the concert at short notice in case of rain. Information on the concert day at bergischesymphoniker.de. Those who want to attend should plan for an early arrival (good spots on the meadow occupied from 5 PM), bring picnic blankets and chair cushions, as well as a waterproof jacket for the summer evening. Catering is provided by the Heimatbund — proceeds go to the association's work.
