In 1787, the first farmers built their houses on the «Langen Horst» east of the present-day municipality of Kamern — this is how Neukamern originated. In 2026, the district will celebrate its 240th anniversary with an all-day village festival on May 23. A rare milestone for a small village in the Altmark region — an occasion for a packed festival program, supported by the local village association.
Small but festive
Neukamern is a small village in the Elbe-Havel region that «knows how to celebrate,» according to its self-image. The 2026 village festival continues this tradition: stands from local providers, catering, tractor skill driving (a recurring highlight at previous village festivals), family program, live music in the evening. The program is designed at the eye level of the village community — not a tourist spectacle, but a genuine anniversary celebration.
Elbe-Havel Land
Neukamern belongs to the municipality of Kamern in the Elbe-Havel-Land collective municipality, in the Stendal district, in northeastern Sachsen-Anhalt. The region is characterized by lowlands, water, and floodplain landscapes between the Elbe and Havel rivers, near the border with Brandenburg. Kamern is both a bathing paradise (Kamern Lake) and a hiking region — visitors to the village festival can easily combine their stay with a day at the lake.

Getting there
By car via the B107 (Havelberg–Stendal) or the A14 (Stendal-Mitte exit), then follow signs to Kamern and Neukamern. Important: From April 27 to June 26, 2026, the L18 between Kamern and Rehberg will be closed — observe the detour.
