Children's festival with live music on Lemsahler Dorfplatz
Lemsahl-Mellingstedt is the northernmost district of Hamburg — already rural, with horse pastures, thatched-roof farmhouses, and a distinct village character. The Dorffest, held every summer on Lemsahler Dorfplatz, cultivates precisely this identity. The organizer is the Heimatbund Lemsahl-Mellingstedt e.V., which preserves the cultural traditions of the community.
The festival begins in the afternoon at 2 PM and is explicitly focused as a children's festival: numerous free attractions for the little ones — game stalls, craft activities, classic amusements — transform Lemsahler Dorfplatz into a playground for an afternoon. Live music accompanies the program.
For refreshments, there's classic Volksfest fare: sausages, fries, popcorn, and a wide selection of drinks. The Heimatbund organizes the festival with numerous volunteers from the community.
Lemsahl-Mellingstedt belongs to the Walddörfer in the Wandsbek district. With only about 6,000 inhabitants, it is one of Hamburg's smaller districts, nestled in the rural landscape between Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein. The Dorffest serves as an important opportunity for community identification here.
On Saturday, August 22, 2026, Lemsahler Dorfplatz will once again transform into the festival grounds. Activities start at 2:00 PM — the festival is explicitly designed as a children's festival.
For the children, there are numerous free attractions — game stalls, craft activities, hands-on activities. Live music accompanies the afternoon program. For refreshments: sausages, fries, popcorn, and a wide selection of drinks.
As every year, the organizer is the Heimatbund Lemsahl-Mellingstedt e.V., which has been organizing the festival through volunteer work for years. The festival is the most important local event in the calendar of Hamburg's smallest forest village district.
