Two days of festival atmosphere in the walled old town of Beilngries
The Beilngries Old Town Festival is one of the most important summer events in the town of Beilngries in the Altmühltal Nature Park. The walled old town with its towers, gates, and Renaissance houses becomes a festival mile for two days: Several stages are spread across the squares, alleys, and courtyards, with local clubs, restaurateurs, and music groups jointly shaping the program.
According to the organizers, the culinary range extends "from Bavarian snacks to international specialties," complemented by cocktail bars and cozy seating areas in the style of a beer garden. Those who prefer to escape the hustle and bustle will find quieter spots in the courtyards and backstreets for conversations over a glass of beer or wine.
On Sunday, the festival shifts more towards family mode: carousels, bouncy castles, acrobats, clowns, and face painters populate the old town. The day is accompanied by the Sunday shopping event of Beilngries shops between 12:30 PM and 5:30 PM – a combination that makes the Old Town Festival a fixed date in the region's shopping calendar.
Beilngries (Eichstätt district) is located at the intersection of the Main-Danube Canal and the Altmühl river, in the heart of the Altmühltal Nature Park. The town wall with its towers is almost completely preserved, making the town one of Bavaria's most beautiful preserved medieval ensembles. This backdrop is the second main attraction of the Old Town Festival besides the program itself.
Like many Bavarian old town festivals, the Beilngries Old Town Festival is supported by the local tourism and cultural office together with clubs and restaurateurs. Admission is free. The catchment area extends into the Altmühltal Nature Park and the northern Hallertau region.
At the Beilngries Old Town Festival 2026, the festival stages in the old town will open on Saturday evening at 6 PM – live bands will play at several venues simultaneously, while the stands of restaurateurs, clubs, and culinary providers will be open. The festival atmosphere will extend through all alleys of the historic city center along the town wall.
On Sunday, the festival starts around noon with the family day: carousels, bouncy castles, acrobats, clowns, and face painters will take over the program until the afternoon, while the Beilngries shops will open their doors for the Sunday shopping event from 12:30 PM to 5:30 PM.
The daily program with band names will be published shortly before the event by the City of Beilngries.
