Beilngrieser Volksfest

Ten Days of Wiesn in the Altmühltal

The Beilngrieser Volksfest is the major Bavarian folk festival in the town of Beilngries, located in the Eichstätt district, right in the heart of the Altmühltal Nature Park. On the festival grounds, locals and visitors celebrate for about ten days at the beginning of September with a festival tent, amusement rides, and Bavarian delicacies. The festival is organized by SF Event GmbH in cooperation with the town of Beilngries; the beer is supplied by the local Schattenhofer brewery.

Procession and Market

The highlight is the grand procession on Sunday, where clubs, brass bands, and traditional costume groups march through Beilngries. On »Volksfest-Dienstag« (Festival Tuesday), the large Volksfest-Waren- und Krammarkt spreads across the entire Ringstraße and Sandstraße, leading to the festival grounds; in the festival tent, the Original Altmühltaler Blaskapelle Beilngries plays for the morning pint (Frühschoppen).

Oide Altmühl-Wiesn and Fireworks

On the second Sunday of the festival, the »Oide Altmühl-Wiesn« takes place with traditional costumes and folk dances – a tribute to traditional customs. A children's program on Monday and spectacular fireworks on the second Friday evening round off the festival program.

Beilngries in the Altmühltal Nature Park

Beilngries is situated at the confluence of the Altmühl and Sulz rivers in the Altmühltal Nature Park, in the Eichstätt district of Bavaria. The picturesque old town with its city walls and towers provides the backdrop for the procession and the market.
