One Village, One Festival, One Brigade
Bergendorf is located between Donauwörth and Dillingen in the Swabian part of Bavaria, directly at the transition between the Donauried and the hilly Riesalb. As a district of Holzheim (Donau-Ries), it has only a few dozen farms – but the Bergendorf Fire Brigade is the central club here, organizing not only fire protection but also social life.
The Dorffest — Swabian Sociability
The Dorffest of the FF Bergendorf is one of those typical small Swabian-Bavarian summer events: tables and benches are set up in the village center, the brigade's grill is fired up with steaks and sausages, accompanied by beer from the tap, homemade cakes, and coffee in the afternoon. A small brass band from the Donau-Ries traditionally plays – sometimes the Holzheim music band, sometimes the neighboring brigades from Ederheim or Mönchsdeggingen.

Getting There
By car: A8 or B16 to Donauwörth, then B25 towards Nördlingen and turn off for Holzheim/Bergendorf. Parking on the outskirts of the village. By public transport: Bus lines from Donauwörth or Nördlingen to Holzheim, from there walk or get a ride to Bergendorf.

The festival takes place in the center of Bergendorf around the fire station. Cash payment at the counter and grill.

Combine the festival with a tour through the Donau-Ries – the nearby old town of Donauwörth and the Ries Crater Museum in Nördlingen are only 15 to 20 minutes away.
