About DIN-Tage

The DIN-Tage Dinslaken is the big late-summer city festival (Stadtfest) of the Lower Rhine town at the entrance to the Hohe Mark Nature Park. Three days at the end of August feature live music, dance performances, entertainment, a youth flea market, and a local rock festival spread across several venues in the city center: Altmarkt, Burgtheater, Burginnenhof, and Neutorplatz. A funfair with a Ferris wheel is located at the Neutorplatz parking lot; on weekends, dedicated youth days are a focus. Organized by GAUDIUM Veranstaltungs-GmbH as a culinary and cultural city festival hub.

Dinslaken between the Ruhr Area and the Lower Rhine

Dinslaken is located on the northwestern edge of the Ruhr Area, transitioning to the Lower Rhine, about 15 km north of Oberhausen and Duisburg. With 67,000 inhabitants, the city is manageable but culturally active – with the Burgtheater Dinslaken (one of the most important theaters on the Lower Rhine) and the Trabrenn-Sportverein (harness racing club) as its best-known institutions. The DIN-Tage is the big summer city festival that concentrates the cultural diversity into a three-day event once a year.

Four Venues, Three Stages

Unlike most city festivals, the concept relies on spatial distribution. The four main venues – Altmarkt (large main stage), Burgtheater (covered venue for concerts and dance), Burginnenhof (intimate acoustic stage), and Neutorplatz (funfair with Ferris wheel) – create different atmospheres. Moving from stage to stage allows visitors to wander through the city center and experience different facets of the event.

Three Days, Three Program Profiles

Friday (5:00 PM–11:00 PM): Opening in the late afternoon, first block of performances with local bands. Funfair opening at Neutorplatz. Saturday (11:00 AM–11:00 PM): Full festival operation with performances on all three stages, dance performances, and activities for families. Sunday (11:00 AM–11:00 PM): Family day with child-friendly programming, followed by the grand finale in the evening with a larger stage show.

Youth Program and Rock Festival

A special feature of the DIN-Tage is its own youth program on the weekend, including a flea market for young people (second-hand goods, handmade items, clothing) and a local rock festival featuring bands from Dinslaken and the surrounding area. Young musicians who can't play at the major festivals in the Ruhr Area find a stage here – this is part of the DIN-Tage's support identity.

Funfair with Ferris Wheel

The funfair is set up at the Neutorplatz parking lot – not a huge amusement park like the Cranger Kirmes, but a well-equipped city festival funfair with a Ferris wheel, children's carousels, game stalls, and food stands. The Ferris wheel offers a view over the city and, on clear summer days, far into the Hohe Mark Nature Park.

GAUDIUM as Organizer

GAUDIUM Veranstaltungs-GmbH & Co. KG from the Ruhr Area is an event service provider that organizes several city festivals in North Rhine-Westphalia. For the DIN-Tage, GAUDIUM handles program coordination, stage setup, funfair contracts, and logistics. The city of Dinslaken and local sponsors support the project.

Dinslaken in Late Summer

Visitors coming for the DIN-Tage can also visit the Trabrenn-Stadion (one of Germany's most important harness racing tracks), the city library in the Burginnenhof, or take a trip to the Hohe Mark Nature Park for hiking, cycling, and exploring idyllic Lower Rhine villages.

DIN-Tage — edition 2026

The DIN-Tage 2026 will transform Dinslaken's city center into a three-day city festival from August 28 to 30, featuring three stages (Altmarkt, Burgtheater, Burginnenhof), a funfair with a Ferris wheel at Neutorplatz, a youth flea market, and a local rock festival. Fri 5 PM–11 PM, Sat and Sun 11 AM–11 PM. Free admission.

The 2026 edition continues the proven four-venue concept. GAUDIUM is organizing the festival program with local bands, dance groups, and activities for all generations. The funfair at the Neutorplatz parking lot is a family magnet.
