About Sommerkultur Dinslaken

Sommerkultur Dinslaken is the open-air concert and comedy series of the city of Dinslaken in the Wesel district, filling the summer months at the Burgtheater open-air stage (built in 1934, 1,600 seats) with a colourful programme of rock, pop, jazz, comedy, cabaret, and classical music. From early August to early September, over ten open-air events take place — in 2026, featuring artists such as Mo Torres, Tom Gaebel, Helge Schneider, Herman van Veen, and Annett Louisan.

A Summer Tradition in the Lower Rhine

In 2020, "Sommerkultur" was launched as the summer umbrella brand of DIN-EVENT GmbH — and has since developed into the main cultural axis of the city of Dinslaken during the summer. The venue is the historic Burgtheater open-air stage, built in 1934 and still one of the most beautiful open-air venues in the Lower Rhine region with its characteristic semi-circular layout and over 1,600 seats around the stage.

Over Ten Evenings, One Summer

Each year, the series brings together a crossover programme: German-language pop, classic rock, jazz, comedy, cabaret, and classical music alternate. In 2026, the lineup includes Mo Torres (Cologne pop), Tom Gaebel (big band swing), Helge Schneider (multi-talent), Herman van Veen (chansonnier from the Netherlands), Annett Louisan (pop chanson), as well as comedy acts like Frau Jahnke.

Integrated into a Broad Summer Cultural Calendar

  • Sommerkultur: Open-air concerts and comedy at the Burgtheater
  • DIN-Tage Festival: August 28–30, 2026 — City festival with live music, street food, and children's programme
  • Abfahrt Eins Street Theatre Festival: July 24–25, 2026 — Performances in public spaces

Burgtheater Dinslaken: A Monument to Open-Air Culture

The Burgtheater was inaugurated in 1934 as one of the first open-air theatres in the Lower Rhine region and has been an integral part of Dinslaken's cultural landscape ever since. Its central location on Althoffstraße in the Stadtkern district makes it easily accessible. With around 70,000 inhabitants, Dinslaken is a medium-sized city in the Wesel district — part of the Lower Rhine region in North Rhine-Westphalia, characterized by the Rhine, the Lippe river, and an active cultural scene between the Ruhr area and the Dutch border.

Sommerkultur Dinslaken — edition 2026

Sommerkultur Dinslaken 2026 runs from August 2 to September 5 with over ten evenings at the Burgtheater open-air stage. Confirmed acts include Mo Torres, Tom Gaebel, Helge Schneider, Herman van Veen, Annett Louisan, and comedian Frau Jahnke. Stylistically, pop, rock, jazz, comedy, cabaret, and classical music alternate.
