33rd Town and Harbour Festival on Bahnstraße and Nedwighafen
Wittenberge, with around 17,000 inhabitants, is the largest town in the Prignitz district, located on the right bank of the Elbe in the far northwest of Brandenburg. Industrial history (sewing machine factory, Singer plant), its role as a railway hub, Elbe shipping, and a well-preserved townscape have shaped the city. The Town and Harbour Festival embraces this dual identity — Bahnstraße as the urban axis, Nedwighafen as the water gate — and activates both locations simultaneously.
Festival Area 1 is Bahnstraße in the town centre: stages are set up here, community organisations present themselves, and gastronomic stands are lined up. Festival Area 2 is Nedwighafen, the sports boat harbour on the Elbe riverbank with its own stage, maritime programme items, and harbour flair. Both areas are connected by footpaths through the town and complement each other.
The programme is curated by the Culture, Sports, and Tourism department of the town of Wittenberge and combines regional acts (Brandenburg bands, dance groups, choirs, school clubs) with international artists. The exact stage acts will be communicated in advance on the festival website www.stadt-hafenfest-wittenberge.de and the town's official channels.
With events like Rock im Moor (Karstädt), the Prignitz Summer (various locations), and the Wittenberge Town and Harbour Festival, the Prignitz region is developing into a small but vibrant festival region in Brandenburg's northwest — much quieter than the areas around Berlin, but with its own unique formats.
The 33rd Wittenberge Town and Harbour Festival 2026 takes place from Friday, August 21, to Sunday, August 23, 2026. The organiser is the Culture, Sports, and Tourism department of the town of Wittenberge. The festival activates two areas simultaneously: Bahnstraße in the town centre as an urban stage and community mile, and Nedwighafen on the Elbe riverbank as a maritime stage with harbour flair. Multiple stages, regional and international artists, and a dense family programme characterise the weekend. Detailed programme, acts, and schedules will be communicated in advance on the festival website www.stadt-hafenfest-wittenberge.de and via the town's social media channels.
