Stoner Rock, Doom and Heavy Psych – Berlin's premier festival of weighty riffs, three days at Columbiahalle and Columbia Theater near Tempelhof Field
Desertfest belongs to a small family of European festivals (London, Antwerp, Berlin, later New York) specializing in Stoner Rock, Doom, Sludge, and Heavy Psych. The Berlin offshoot started in 2012 and has since become a fixture on the international calendar. For three days, the Columbiahalle, including the smaller Columbia Theater, is the venue.
The Columbiahalle (main stage, approx. 3,500 capacity) and the Columbia Theater (side stage, approx. 1,100 capacity) are located on Columbiadamm, directly next to the former Tempelhof Airport. The location is not only logistically ideal – short distances, open-air picnics on Tempelhof Field during breaks – but also feels like a natural home for Stoner fans: concrete, vastness, industrial charm.
Desertfest tickets travel far. Great Britain, Scandinavia, the Netherlands, Spain, Italy, USA – the weekend in Berlin is a must-attend for many European Stoner fans. Day tickets often remain available until shortly before the start, while weekend tickets have been sold out in advance for years. The festival organizes accommodation in cooperation with local hostels.
The German Stoner and Doom scene is manageable but loyal. Bands like Kadavar (Berlin) or My Sleeping Karma (Aschaffenburg) have international standing. Desertfest provides the scene with its annual meeting point – a showcase and reunion rolled into one. For Berlin as a music city, the festival is one of the few events with a clear genre focus and international appeal.
The 14th edition of Desertfest Berlin in 2026 features another top-class lineup across two stages on Columbiadamm. The Columbiahalle hosts the headliners and main acts, while the Columbia Theater offers specialized programs – drone sets, sludge slots, heavy psych acts, and newcomers.
Weekend tickets are sold out in advance. Day tickets remain on sale until the respective day, with availability varying depending on the headliner. A pre-show is held on Thursday at Cassiopeia (in the past). Festival-goers typically spend breaks picnicking on the adjacent Tempelhof Field.
The daily updated and complete lineup, along with exact stage times, will be published by the festival shortly before the start on desertfest.de.
Take the U-Bahn lines U6 or U7 to Mehringdamm, then bus M19 or a 10-minute walk across Tempelhof Field. Alternatively, take bus 104 directly to Columbiahalle.
Day tickets approx. €65–€75, weekend ticket approx. €165 (adjusted annually). Weekend tickets usually sell out months in advance. Purchase via desertfest-tickets.de.
The festival cooperates with nearby hostels and offers affordable accommodation packages.
