Town Festival in the Danube District
The Erbach Town Festival is the central civic festival of the town of Erbach (Donau) in the Alb-Donau district (state of Baden-Württemberg). The festival is organized jointly by Stadtfest Erbach GbR and the town administration. A characteristic feature is the close involvement of local clubs: the fire department, cultural societies, youth organizations, and sports clubs are responsible for catering, program items, and all the surrounding activities.
Saturday Evening: Club Night on Erlenbachstraße
On Saturday evening from 5 PM, the town festival opens on Erlenbachstraße. Club stands with culinary specialties, draft beer, regional wines, and a stage with live music from local bands attract Erbach's citizens and guests from neighboring communities to the town center. The atmosphere is familiar and convivial – the town festival has been a central meeting point for spring in Erbach's event calendar for decades.
Sunday: Ecumenism, Politics, and Family Program
Sunday begins with an ecumenical service, attended jointly by Protestant and Catholic Christians of the town. This is followed by the laying of the foundation stone for the new town hall by Mayor Achim Gaus – a symbolic act that highlights Erbach's urban development. The rest of Sunday is dedicated to Family Sunday with activities for children of all ages, accompanied by music groups from Erbach's clubs.
Large Flea Market Through the Town Center
One of the main attractions is the traditional flea market on Sunday from 11 AM to 5 PM throughout the entire town center. Only private sellers are allowed – a deliberate protection against professional wholesale and a guarantee of authentic flea market atmosphere. The stand fee is €5 per meter; registration deadline is April 30th. Register by email at [email protected].
Erbach on the Danube
The town of Erbach (Donau) is located about 12 km west of Ulm, directly on the young Danube river and on the Ulm–Sigmaringen railway line. With around 13,000 inhabitants, a characteristic townscape with Erbach Castle (16th century), a historic town center, and close proximity to the Swabian Jura and Allgäu, the town is an attractive place to live and work in the Alb-Donau district. The town festival is one of the most important moments of identity in Erbach's calendar.
