When the street becomes a playground
Once a year, Dammerbergstraße in Bremen's Hemelingen district transforms into a car-free play street: The neighborhood festival at freiRaum Dammi 14 invites all neighbors, friends, and interested parties to get to know each other and celebrate together for an afternoon. The celebration takes place around the log cabin in the garden and on the street – a place where children play, adults chat, and generations connect. The festival usually starts at 3 PM.
A new meeting place since 2024
The district project Dammi 14 is behind the festival: Since June 2024, the housing company Vonovia has been making a previously vacant, approximately 136-square-meter free space, including a log cabin with toys and a small fenced garden, available to Stadtteilmarketing Hemelingen e.V. at very favorable conditions. The rooms are open to groups and initiatives from the district – for culture, environment and upcycling, language support, readings, or learning spaces, by the hour, day, or week, one-time or regularly. The project is planned to run until the end of 2026.
A project for cohesion
The neighborhood festival is organized by Stadtteilmarketing Hemelingen e.V. together with Vonovia and the MOBILE Familienzentrum. It is the most visible expression of open neighborhood work that enables encounters in Hemelingen throughout the year. Initiatives are explicitly invited to participate with their own activities.

The Dammerbergstraße Neighborhood Festival showcases its social side: a low-threshold, warm festival that connects people and makes neighborhood tangible – with free admission and open to all.

On Friday, May 29, 2026, Stadtteilmarketing Hemelingen invites you from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM to the 3rd Neighborhood Festival at Dammerbergstrasse 14.
