Dachauer Musiksommer – Jazz in allen Gassen

The Dachauer Musiksommer is the central summer cultural series of the city of Dachau. Its opening evening has borne the same name for years: Jazz in allen Gassen. The concept is simple and strong: on a single summer evening, six bands from various styles play on five stages in the historic Old Town – guests wander between the venues, each square becoming its own small stage with its own atmosphere.

Five Stages, Five Sound Worlds

The squares of Dachau's Old Town give the evening its special character. Rathausplatz, Schrannenplatz, Kraisy-Brunnen, Pfarrplatz, and Schermhof – each with its own acoustics, each with its own band programming. Up to 10,000 visitors stroll through the alleys, according to the organizer, taking breaks in the pubs and open-air gastronomy. Admission is by ticket only – the event is ticketed despite its street festival character.

Program June 2 to July 25

"Jazz in allen Gassen" is the first of several components of the Musiksommer 2026: Element of Crime (June 2), Royal Republic (June 13), Von Wegen Lisbeth (June 28), and – as the finale – the Barockpicknick with Garou in the castle courtyard on July 25. The organizer is the Cultural Office of the Große Kreisstadt Dachau.

Dachau in Upper Bavaria

Dachau is the district capital of the district of the same name, northwest of Munich. The historic Old Town with its castle, Rathausplatz, and Pfarrkirche St. Jakob has been a renowned artists' quarter ("Künstlerstadt Dachau") for centuries. The Musiksommer is a conscious commitment to this tradition – open-air culture in a city whose identity is shaped by the tension between history and a vibrant art scene.
