Christmas Magic in Dachau's Old Town
The Dachauer Christkindlmarkt takes place in the historic old town around the Rathausplatz, near Dachau Castle. For over 45 years, the market organized by Dachauer Christkindlmarkt e.V. has been a fixture of the pre-Christmas atmosphere in the Dachau district and beyond.
Bavaria's Largest Advent Calendar
Arguably the most striking feature is the giant 300-square-meter advent calendar on the facade of the town hall – according to the organizers, the largest in Bavaria. From December 1st to 23rd, a calendar door is opened daily at 7:00 PM, and a raffle is held. The tickets cost €1.50, with proceeds going to charitable causes.
Engerlszug and Artists' Market
Traditionally, the festive Engerlszug (angel procession) winds through the old town for the opening. An artists' market takes place on the rear town hall terrace from Friday to Sunday. The program ranges from spectacular artists to evening bands, providing atmospheric entertainment.

The 2026 edition of the Dachauer Christkindlmarkt runs from November 20th to December 23rd in the historic old town around Rathausplatz. It is open Mondays to Fridays from 3:00 PM to 8:30 PM and Saturdays and Sundays from 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM.
At the opening, the traditional Engerlszug (angel procession) winds through the old town. An artists' market takes place on the rear town hall terrace from Friday to Sunday. Getting There
Take the S-Bahn (line S2) from Munich to Dachau, then continue by bus to the old town. By car, take the A8 or A92; parking is available on the outskirts of the old town.
