Spring Market of the Julius Tönebön Foundation at Fischbeckerstraße to mark the start of spring
The Tönebön an der Weser grounds are located on Fischbeckerstraße in the Wehl district of Hameln and are home to the Julius Tönebön Foundation. The foundation has a long tradition in Hameln's social work and today operates various facilities – from residential communities and workshops to cultural offerings. The annual Spring Market is an opportunity to bring the foundation's work into the city community, foster encounters, and celebrate the start of the warmer season.
The market begins on Saturday morning at 11 AM and runs throughout the day into the early evening. The opening is hosted by representatives of the foundation, and music accompanies the program. Throughout the day, there will be small demonstrations, children's activities, and information sessions offering insights into the institution's work.
Several stalls offer spring flowers from regional nurseries – tulips, daffodils, primroses, hyacinths. Artisans present handmade products: ceramics, woodwork, felt items, small jewellery, natural cosmetics. Food offerings include homemade cakes, coffee, bratwurst, fries, and non-alcoholic spring drinks. Some stalls are run by the foundation's own workshops, offering products made there for sale.
In addition to the classic market offerings, social initiatives from Hameln and the surrounding area present themselves with information stands. Topics range from care and work with people with disabilities to volunteering, inclusion, and integration, as well as environmental and nature conservation. Those wishing to get involved can find contact persons and opportunities for participation here.
The Spring Market is aimed at all generations. Children will find play activities, craft sessions, and small sweets. Families can find seating and an environment where the afternoon can be spent relaxedly. Older visitors enjoy reunions over coffee and cake, as well as quiet contemplation in the open air.
Hameln, with around 57,000 inhabitants, is one of the larger towns in southern Lower Saxony's Weser Uplands, famous for the legend of the Pied Piper. The Tönebön Foundation's Spring Market complements the city's event offerings with a socially anchored meeting place.
The exact daily program and list of exhibitors will be published by the foundation shortly before the event.
